Chapter 1: I Hate Models, enigmatic character
Who is the man behind the art of Daydream and L’Âge des Métamorphoses ?
We will never know directly from the enigmatic I Hate Models as he prefers not to shade too much light on his name but rather on his sound design which speaks for him.
Growing up in South Of France, the producer took the usual teen route of music exploration, embracing hip-hop, metal, and punk.
At roughly 20 years he has been in almost 2 years able to build a fame around his name. 2019 has seen him closing Les Nuits Sonores and Dour festival and 2020 is taking off at the same pace with his presence on the 2 days of Awakenings festival which are major techno events.
Chapter 2: The art of composing with oppositions
His ascension has begun in 2016 with his first EP on the Italian imprint ARTS. Warehouse Memories which introduces I Hate Models’ universe tortured by the opposition of melancholia and violence. The iconic Daydream from this EP represents this combination as it plunges us into a soundscape shaped by a mixture of murky techno, acid, thundering kick drums, lush pads, and even vocals. You have one of the facet of I Hate Models - his rebellion against conformism which comes by associating divergent emotions in one complex cold feeling.
Chapter 3: A rebellion against musical segmentation
This aspect can also be observed in the way he plays his music. During his high energy sets he mixes fast BPM’s and eclectic selections from techno, acid and industrial to early 90s trance and ambient. In the composition of his last album released on Perc Trax L’Âge des Métamorphoses he combines in one consistent piece of art different genres which are not used to be. From this alchemy is born his identity to which people are fascinated with.
