Chapter 1: When dance meet composition
2020 will be Demuja’s year with the release of his new LP Atlantic Avenue already supported by The Black Madonna.
Bernhard Weiss was born in Salzburg, hometown of Mozart, in Austria. Since his young age he has been immersed into music through his education - his father is a drummer and his mother a singer in a choir. Soon, he begun to play with kicks and hats on daddy’s drums but his true passion was for break dance. At 16 years old he started mixing electronic tracks for his dance crew in order that they have fun on his funky beats. Slowly he moved from his drums to electronic production to create his own music. In 2011, Demuja was born with his first track Jazztonic.
Chapter 2: Demuja, a prolific House Music lover
Influenced by Henrik Schwarz, Kerry Chandler or MCDE the tone of the project is clearly defined by its name - De Muja is a track from Olav Basoski which is considered to be the first proper house track Bernhard has ever heard. Since his beginnings Demuja is prolific with twenty tracks and 2 LP supported by renowned house labels such as Nervous, Skylax, Lost Palms and Toy Tonics. However, the take-off happened in 2017 with Do You Want My Love from Mary Jane Theory EP released on his own label MUJA.
Chapter 3: MUJA and his vision of club culture
Demuja is always struggling to free his creativity regarding his sets or tracks. This need of freedom is deeply linked to his passion for break dance where he can feel free to express himself on the music. Hence the creation in 2016 of MUJA in order to take more pleasure in the experience of releasing a song such as working on the artwork, the video clip or the vinyl. In parallel he is a DJ who is striving to get longer set. He deplores the difficulty to drive clubbers into a colourful path flirting between smooth and feel good melodic vibes to heavy kick drum workouts and laid back space funk within a set of one hour.
